Just a word of caution...Joey does not rate Leeward's chances...too short and will need run very badly.

Race 2: Grasp your Destiny should go very close
Race 3: Hammie's Flyer will do much better today but 16 On the Road looks like the one to beat.
Race 4: 9 Sheriff Marshall looks a winner but keep an eye on Great Kali with the 4kg appy allowance and the 1600m.
Race 6: 11 Leisure Jet is my very dangerous lurker - only wins this c/d
Race 7; Depardieu and Cap Alright but I will not ignore Castlethorpe on last season's excellent sprint form
Race 8: Yes I know what you're saying Magi but Agra at the weights and with her ability is my standout bet.

i thought lex non scripta in race3 was very overpriced on his last run which was his first after gelding..formline of 3 in front of him has been franked and he came from a poor draw...hopefully he can reproduce his dville run at kworth

My dippy analogy of the Merchants :-
I think Depardieu is the right one. Reason, they expecting a 50% chance of rain in Cpt today, on the assumption they all tack over to the stand side of the course, then i feel Beach Beauty has it all to do from draw 1, she might be out-paced for early speed which would put her behind a wall of horses, conversely, even if the stay down the inside. She will be running at them at the finish, maybe too late for the reasons given. Cap Alright is very speedy and has the plum draw, if they run on the stand-side of the course, however he struggles to stay 1200m, so i think he will be gasping for air at the finish. This leaves the way open for Depardieu, drawn in the middle of the field (6), to run them out of it at the finish. Admittedly Depardieu is a bit unreliable but should have a strong shout here.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Is a headwind which indicates the wind has swung to around southwest / east and we had some good showers last night so the rain may have arrived early....
