With the calibre of female jocks and lack of,do you guys notice what a special talent Lisa was.Since shes been gone there hasnt been a Group One riding female jockey.The jockey academy seems to have taken the pedal off in recruiting female jockeys and the same can be said for authorities when it comes to african trainers the last being Bulana.Lets hope these young african jockeys eventually turn to training.

@cliftonking:
'The jockey academy seems to have taken the pedal off ..'
well observed mate!
Unfortunately, the system and agendas do not permit for this type of thinking;
Females are seen as lead characters in '50 + 1 Shades of Grey' and mention of blacks within the industry as politics to be catechised against the ANC, Malema, corruption, etc!

If u go to search exact and all dates we have plenty, here is one
Agree 100%. Any if u guys remember the flop horse in Durban that came up to Buddy & was easy to back first time out at 50/1 then shortened to 2/1 & won going away under Lisa Prestwood i unfortunatley only got 33/1 the horse became a champion & even went on to race in Dubai making SA proud the horse in question is AL Nitak what a horse only because of the champion himself Buddy.

I feel privileged to have known Lisa and was also partially responsible (when on the Gambling Board) to have pressured the then Jockey Club to give her her riding licence (together with Abie Fourie who rode a winner for me subsequently.... conflict of interests!).
Lisa married and has family. Her sister that was here sold out and re-located to England.
Abie Fourie had a fall, was hospitalised and never heard of again.
As much as the goings-on at the CC are concerned, isn't this pointed question that should be asked:
Isn't the horseracing industry a totally male-dominated monopoly?
Lol!
