Really hope Cherie's held on for 3rd!! just confirmed I hear... small trifecta in (:D price though will be completely ruined by the horse getting loose as they revert to sp (td)

I know this subject has been discussed at nauseum but I believe it should be mentioned again.

Trainers should give their horses an educational run down the straight imvho. If Mawing had done this with his first timer there he could have won by (to quite half of the racing community)....Half the bloody race course!!!!

I know there are certain horses who cannot start out their careers over sprints as they are not sprinters but then, even more so imo do they need to be tought how to race.

A horse with clear ability such as this first timer today should have no worries wining over 1160/1200m first time out!!!

Fixed 4 place dbl - Roaming In Rome X Ice Harvest = 3/1 worth a go - Both will run well so include in quartets.

I would guess it all depends on the training technics used in South Africa?....UK trainers run there horses over the correct distance from debut and frequently win first time out over longer distances.
