On the evidence of what I have seen in the recent past, I concur.
That is why I am asking for change now.
Any one that still believes that SIR Fergie is the same old self, is still in dreamland.
We need 2 young robust central defenders fast.

Agra, me thinks you have been "asking" for change for years and keep being surprised by the success SAF has attained.
Same old self... please compare the old with the present then, are you sure he has changed so much or is it that football around him has changed and he is trying to compete now rather than simply be king of the castle as we were a decade ago. The money in certain clubs now is simply astronomical and I would guess in that time Fergie has lost out half a dozen times plus by being trumped by an oil zillionairre or whoever who is happy to pay 3, 5, 10 million etc more? If you can't get the players you want its increasingly harder to compete. Look at the scousers. Fergie has kept United there, how I don't quite know but it has looked like the empire is toppling a few times in the last decade and each time he's proved people wrong. This may be the time they are not wrong, time will tell. But, please, we are Manchester United, we don't talk about sacking greats, we live with them even if we disagree with them and thank them for their immense contribution. United til I die (tu)

Jaysus, now i have read it all! So called United supporters wanting to fire/retire SAF after 6 matches into the season because we lose 3-2 to Spurs in a match we couldhave easily got a result.
Without SAF we would not have RVP nor probably have held onto Rooney. He is the glue that holds the club together at the moment. We are lacking a really good number 2. Since Queroz left Phelan has tried hard but doesnt have the technical ability that is needed.
As for losing last season due to formation? Blackburn at home on new years day and Wigan and Everton away were 3 bad matches that would have made us Champions by 9 points. The new formation is exactly what is needed. We are still lacking a playmaker for the 2nd half of the season as i am worried sick as to when scholesys legs start faultering during the crammed few weeks at Christmas.
@Englander - We will be in the knock out stages this year for Champion League. Its the reason we started the team we started on Saturday. Fergie doesnt want to be embarrassed in Europe again. But European footbll also has the luck factor. Its cup football so for me its all about on the day. The premiership is what decides who has the best team.

Not "so called" supporters boet. Just a die-hard but sensible supporter. I am a realist.
I think that Ferguson, Giggs, Scholes and Ferdinand have ALL past their SELL BY DATES.
If D. Moyes was given the same team at this point of time, he would do a better job.
Ferguson has made too many selection errors in the recent past ( and not all caused by injury issues).
How on earth could one play 3 PENSIONERS in Giggs, Scholes and Ferdinand against a young attacking side like Spurs. BTW the same mistake was made against Everton.
The above players were all good in their era but NOT anymore. As United supporters, we have to realize that it is pointless players these guys for sentimental reasons. Even Evra is a shadow of his former self.
Let's be honest, when last did you see United play attacking football (like they did in the 2nd half against Spurs).
Their game in the last 2 seasons has been possession , possession and sideways movement...........down the corner flag and nowhere to go...............bad crosses. I am afraid, that is obviously the way the boss wants them to play.
The queen made Alex a SIR many years ago and that was when he was at his the best. It is unfortunate that one cannot take away the SIR from Ferguson.
This might sound like a contradiction, but it is my believe that it is Manchester United ( the team, it's past players, the owners and their money which gave Alex the freedom to assembly a winning combination year after year) that made him the most successful manager.
No one is bigger than the club. No one is bigger than the game.
I agree with Englander, that based on the evidence I have seen thus far we might end up trophy-less this season.
Ferguson is not God. The old man should go before he causes irreparable damage.
In my opinion he should be replaced.

scholes is still top draw..when he isnt playing and he comes on in the 2nd half he completely changes the game, and when he start and then goes off the game changes too..giggs doest offer anymore than either valencia, nani, young or anderson even for that matter..and rio is totally useless and injury prone..problem at the back is vidic is a huge part of the back 4 and he is injured more often then not..

Richie77 we are playing against clujj in champions league.we should be good enough to beat them with a 2nd string team with relative ease.no one is saying SIR ALEX should be fired or that he must retire, only saying his team selections for last few seasons hv been poor and he is adopting a more european defensive style of play, which in all my years (since 70s) has not been the utd way.wen SIR ALEX came to old trafford he adopted an attacking style of play with 2 strikers and very attacking wide players.we played at a fast pace and always attacked the oppostion from the word go.lately and especially in europe we always play 1 striker, plat at a pedestrian pace and we dont defend as well as we used to.surely SIR ALEX has got to shoulder some of the blame for our poor performances because after all he is the one who picks the team and dictates our style of play.other than that he has been fantastic and has brought glory to old trafford and made us the most successful club in the uk.

Re: Re: Premier League

Disagree totally winzip. We used ot adopt the 1 striker formation in Europe up until 2008. We then changed it to the 4-3-3 with tevez, ronaldo and rooney interchanging between the 3 positions. THis ledus to the UCL and Prem double. With the aquisition of RVP and Kagawa we are looking again at going back to that type of formation that causes havoc.
We have evolved as a football team. When the foramtion was 4-4-2 with good wngers that could cross a ball and poaching strikers we had the best of the best. Becks, and giggs into ruud etc was immense. That time has changed. We have evolved with it. We have been trying ot compete still with that formation since Ronaldo left but it doesnt work.
Our defence is a problem. Rio has back issues, Vidic has had a horrific injury, Evra is pants, and the rest are average to say the least. Throw in 2 new keepers who are too scared to make a mistake in case they dropped and you got a very fragile defence. We do not and have not ever had a player like a yaya toure, an essien, a mascherano type player that sits in front of the defence and holds things together. It looks like we trying that with Fletch now but i dont see it working. Add to that, that scholes is still our best midfielder and you can see where the cracks are. SAF has been wrong in trying to cover these cracks with absolute nonsense about no value in the market and that we have a strong enough squad. For me, that is his only mistake.
You say Cluj are easy and should be a walk in the park, well BAsel at home should have been as well. Like i said in previous posts, its cup football so you cannot afford to take the chance. Qualify 1st then let the 2nd teamers have their shot. Roma 7-1 ring a bell.

Just to clarify...
I didn't say we would finish trophy-less. I did say I doubt we would be in at the business end of the Champions Lge... qualifying for the knock out stages is to me not the business end.
Agra, I think you have to look at the bigger picture sir. SAF is not just manager of the team, he is manager of the club and the club is huge. And it is he who has made that club huge again, he has bound everything together and I believe he continues to hold it together. When he goes I suspect three or four people may be needed to replace him. David Moyes may be a good football team manager but imo there is no way he could manage the whole of Manchester United Football Club as Fergie has done. He may be capable of learning to do so but at the moment the comparison to me is a little like saying the respective wealth of the Queen and a mere commoner like myself is more or less the same!!
I am more inclined to agree with Richie and think Mike Phelan might need a more hands-on mentor.
And it was actually only last season we played gung-ho football... I seem to remeber thrashing Chelsea and then Arsenal 8-2. Unfortunately, we had not looked at the defence and it was no surprise to me when Sh1ty murdered us at OT... balance balance balance! but to me at the moment, we are too negative for a United team to be fully effective,
