That was the best Cape racecourse...I just loved the 1600m races, near or far bend.
I remember Priceless Asset being very impressive during Natal winter season and after winning a feature, when intervieved,
Peter Kannemeyer said " We've got some just as good, possibly even better at home'
Came the Cape Argus Guineas and i boxed the stables 3 horses in swingers
1st @ 20/1 Young England....drawn 16...G Howes
2nd...?
3rd..Priceless Asset...G Puller
4th...Coolstar... K Neisius?
I may have 3rd & 4th wrong, but the swingers was just great.!!!
It took a 45min trip by BUS...but... GOLDEN ARROWS were ALWAYS on TIME:D

talking of doubles
the best double my father ever caught was the day Rhys van Wyk rode his first two winners @ Turffies for his dad Hennie
He rode for his farther in the 3rd and 4th Race, the 3rd race winner was a friend of my Dad's horse ( my farther was also friends with Hennie) a Dr Khoury and the horse was 20/1 and then he also rode the winner of the next race. unfortunately I can not remember the names, but they made a lot off money that day as they also took straight wins and all to comes etc..
What i also remember was the day that I stood next to my dad and Hennie told him to "put the house" on Royal Bride to win the Computaform sprint , he did the price was 20/1 we all know what happened.

For the love of me, I cannot remember Glory Be. I was always a fan of Intellectual and Galvinator.

raced in the early 70's was owned by Bill Furgerson and i think Cliffy Otto trained..was a top notch sprinter by Persian Wonder..alec laird trained his namesake in the early 90's but was not too good think he won 1 or maybe 2 races

Dont mean to throw cold water, cause I love the old stories...
But it shows that the insider trading on ponies had always existed and will always exist.
It's not about the best horse Winning,it's about the 'know'. Mostly.
That is why the game has lost the imagination of the masses. Cause they not the dumb @&$) they were then.
The dumb ()?@ &unts still dictate the result till most sensible People leave.
Until the parity and honesty is instilled in racing, it will remain a greater gamble than the roulette wheel.
Yawn ... Scratch ...

I totally disagree with this statement...Stupidity is growing exponentially. There are more stupid people every day.
