Pirates, this was point i made on the other thread regarding the success this past season with the cape trainers, besides B Crawford & G Ennion the other yards do not have less than 100 horses. I am still a believer in the smaller yards personally and will always support them.
I would like to see the stats that show Graded race wins in comparison to horses in the yard, would be very interesting for the last season...... also based on the same stats the trainers of years past would rate as the best ever.....

Exactly it is no fluke...... but the ability to identify above average potential before someone else does....there are those who get/fluke one or two in a lifetime....and spend a lifetime wondering and hoping it will happen again.....:S

Exactly it is no fluke...... but the ability to identify above average potential before someone else does....there are those who get/fluke one or two in a lifetime....and spend a lifetime wondering and hoping it will happen again.....:S

Neville Pearce is also worth a mention. Did very well with a small string and was very competitive in graded races.

Roy Howe was a very good trainer and when money came and Rhy van Wyk rode they often shat in

Not that Roy.....Roy Unsworth was the softly softly guy.....and yes he was a brilliant trainer....but had a major problem with the well heeled patrons.....he often told them to take their horses and f@rk off, when they tried to give their 2cents worth.....:

Reg Passmore was very good with sprinters. Also brought home the bacon when money was down.

many will laugh at what i say now. in his day johan van eck was the best that i see in 40 years with bringing the bacon home.

Is he from Zim. Dont know any top horse that goes with that name.
