I'm reticent to publish the full contents of our deal as it certainly requires words to support the proposed structures and time to allow for questions and answers. However I am very prepared to host a series of national presentation to anyone interested to understand more. If you are interested in attending note your interest and location and I will look to setup presentations in your region in the coming weeks.

Thanks

Until now I always assume any outside interest is looking to hijack racing's assets because they are there and almost appear to be vulnerable. Ownership is convoluted and controlled rather weekly by custodians who derive from poor democratic support.

To put another way, really valuable assets including a huge gambling enterprise is controlled by some people who own and train horses. Their investment is in their businesses or their horses mostly. No one paid money for the shares like they would have in a public company where ones say would be in the ratio of their investment, so a member with 10k exposure to racing carries the same clout as someone with 20M in play.

It's maybe not the worst idea to outsource your management if it's a proven stumbling block. If the management guarantees an outcome, how can you go wrong? I suppose that was essentially the deal with P in the first place?

No guarantees offered in the P deal, and no that is not "essentially" the P deal structure. You have to consider the legal structures, the asset transfers, resultant ownership and membership controls as well as the loan terms to get the full picture. The P deal cannot be described as a management outsource contract, that I'm sure is how they would like to have it understood but it's much more than that.

Perhaps Jack you should attend a meeting and I can take you through the substance of both deals? anyone else? Pretty disappointing to note the lack of interest in meeting publicly to discuss IMO the biggest decision effecting the future of horse racing in the country.

I think the reluctance of people to come to your events may be because of the vague approach. My personal feeling is that the meetings remind me of the once popular time-sharing bashes- Obviously you are not doing the same but without a basic outline of what you offer I would not be needing the free meal. However I have no stake in racing anymore so I suppose nothing lost. Perhaps Ms Louw should have written an article detailing your plan in the Sporing Post(perhaps she has but the above one has very little facts on your proposal)

"There were a lot of facts, figures and statistics, some of which I confess went a little over my head, but I was encouraged that they appear anxious to engage with as many people from as many sectors of the industry as possible and that they are attempting to structure their deal based on input from all industry stakeholders."

I have always been aware that the racing facilities I have had access to was paid for and preserved for me by people before me.

In principle, I would like those facilities to be there after we have had our fun. Given that tracks were set up in the past and that as time goes by the likely hood of new tracks being built is very unlikely, the loss of the tracks at Gosforth, Newmarket and Milnerton is extremely worrying. In principle, the loss of tracks should be viewed as a last resort.

There is a close parallel with racing and the really nice school my kids attend which exists through the generosity of people who at the time wanted their kids to go to a really nice school. The parents with kids at this school seem to be mindful to contribute now, partly to add to what the previous generation built, and partly for the next generation because maybe our grandkids will go. There is a sense of community, and a general sense of goodwill.

All fluffy and nice...BUT, there is an iron fist in who we trust to run things... the board are very sharp, the principle is top class and in tune with the aims and goals, and the teachers have been poached from everywhere. The management is superb....and free at the top. The professionals we hired are the best we can afford (def not free), and only one thing counts...they achieve what we want. The costs are very dear but the focus remains on delivery, focus and growth.

The model of the school and racing is almost identical (LOL parents are owners, kids are horses, teachers are trainers, board is the talent from the parents, and non of us paid for the buildings and sports fields...I'm just missing the punters I think). The difference may boil down to the will, drive and planning to succeed is relentless at the school. It tests and compares itself constantly against the best out there, and innovations introduced constantly and plans in the works continually as we watch locally and overseas.

What was the last innovation to be introduced to HORSE RACING in SA? Please don't say 6 places on the tote.
