Betfred pay out early??? what happened to once bitten twice shy??
United's 2-0 win at Blackburn on Monday night saw them move five points clear of rivals and neighbours Manchester City and that has led to bookmaker Betfred paying out on the Red Devils remaining at the top of the table.
Co-founder Fred Done - a huge United fan - was the first ever bookmaker to pay out early, when back in March 1998 he paid out to punters who had backed Sir Alex Ferguson's side to win the Premier League, only for Arsenal to pip them by one point.
But Fred is convinced United will stay on top and has paid out over £500,000 to his customers who backed them for the title.
"Even with the big derby to come a five point lead is just too much for City, so I’m letting all United punters have their dough early to the tune of just over half a million quid!" he said.
Speaking of his costly decision to pay out on United in 1998, he added: "Back in 1998 Fergie told me to never pay out early ever again, but Sir Alex need not worry, I’m convinced United are past the post for a record twentieth Premier League title."

Ah well, was a heck of a ride and came within 45 seconds or so of paying off.

It is amazing reading this thread at how dramatically the EPL changed in the last month or so. Even Hoender saying "City are finished" in one post to they will win the league in his next.
