on a cold bitter wet day, in the middle of december or february at ANY point to point racemeeting in the UK, you will find more than 5000 racegoers. With the similar ammounts attending the "under rules " courses just down the road.
Now just to clarify, this is on weekends but nevertheless the numbers are there.

They were trying to give the idea of "breakfast meetings" a whole now meaning.
< I had the privelege(?) of being on course and the place was almost deserted by the last race. The delay was bad enough, but the lack of accurate information about what was going on was the real killer. Being told that the next race will be run as soon as possible didn't exactly gel with the sight of empty saddling boxes for 30 minutes or more.
Gold Circus is on such a roll at the moment that we wait with bated breath for what will happen next. The grandstand will fall down? A meteor will smash into the course? Aliens will invade from the planet Cocopopsius in the middle of a race?
Who knows?

ONLY in sa could the lack of power be such an issue the the generator industry boomed, and ONLY in SA horseracing could too much power be blamed for abandoning a meeting. What a farce
