What effect does it have on the horse, especially when a horse is used regularly as pacemaker?

the most recent false result i can recall at this moment is past master winning a big one in the cape. dont get me wrong im happy for all its connections but the way that race was run was not to true pace/merit.

I love a good pace. Cannot stand this S..T of chasing a horse to the front then easing up and turning it into a sprint. Suspend the jockey as it can cause huge interference to the horses behind and is extremely dangerous. The jockeys behind dont expect the race to suddenly turn into a crawl and have to take evasive action quickly to avoid falling and injuring themselves and the horse. Just be carefull with pacemakers as even Mr Millard found out in the July that sometimes you dont catch them.

Without Riboville in the race Elevation wouldn't have won anyway, so the same connections still got a July win out of it.

Lets not forget the maestro mr Millard,on Rothmans July day he could have three runners and a strong pacemaker, the only problem was that his pacemaker would sometimes make all the running and eventually win the race.I think the jockey was Leisher on Occult.

Pacemakers are also used in horse racing, where mediocre horses may be entered into major races specifically to set the pace for superior horses from the same stable. On a few occasions, pacemakers have finished ahead of the horses they were setting the pace for, such as when Summoner won the 2001 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, and At First Sight running second in the 2010 Epsom Derby ahead of his two more-favoured stablemates.

Prince Florimund had the scribes fishing for superlatives after his feat in winning three R100 000 races in less than three months. In the S.A. guineas (Gr. I - 1600m.) he made hacks of a field that included Wolf Power, Arctic cove, Saturado and Foreign Ambassador. After this scintallating run, the South African Two Thousand (Gr. I - 2000m.) looked a formality and Rhodes brought him smoothly home to win by 1½ lengths form Poetic. a temporary setback occured in the Oceanair Derby (Gr. I - 2400m.) when the longshot Saturdo sprinted clear as the field swung into the home straight. Millard's colt grimly held his advantage to the line but only just repelled the strong late challenge of Prince Florimund who encountered traffic problems as he tried to begin his home run. Prince Florimunds' last run at 3 years sealed his title
