A few years ago prior to taking a weeks holiday i bought my Lottery tickets and put them in a drawer. After i returned from the holiday I went to the shops as usual and bought my next weeks tickets and carried on doing so for the next month or so. I checked my numbers every week with no luck. One day, about two months after my holiday, I needed something in one of the kitchen drawers. I saw a Lottery at the back. I then remembered that that was the ticket i had purchased before i went on holiday. I then went onto the lottery site to check the numbers. To my utter suprise and dismay i had won the thunderball jackpot.

i took a pa at kimberley. one perm and a straight liner x50. A couple of early results and was running in both with 2 legs ta go. I was real upset when i noticed i had made a mistake in the 2 nd last and marked the wrong horse in the str8 perm. small maiden field about 9 and by error i had bankered a 33/1 shot ridden by d barnard. in the main perm i had the first 2 in the betting. end result deon goes start to finish from 2 outsiders. cruised the last leg with a 6/10. pa paid r680.

One of my favourites relates to when the horses in George Scott's stables were poisoned by contaminated feed. While 6 died all the others were badly affected. In particular Dream World almost died and was sent to Ondersterpoort for a blood transfusion in the hope of saving her. She then spent 2 months in her box standing while recovering, and started easy work again in the hope of bringing her back. Talita Van Rooyen used to work her for us and got on well with the filly. She was one of a few people who could enter her stable without getting attacked !!!

In late December we decided that she had recovered sufficiently showing no signs of visible ill effects and nominated her for a grooms race with Talita on board.

On the day of the race George's runner in the first race ran second and that was enough to convince us that the filly would run up to her potential. Leaving the ring George's son phoned him and pleaded with him to discourage me from betting the filly. I asked George what his son had said and he replied not to worry the filly was a maximum bet.

We took all the 16/1 and 14/1 available, bearing in mind she was a filly giving weight to older colts and geldings. Talita followed instructions to the tee and hit the front with 400m to go, steadily drawing clear to win by 6 lengths pulling up.

I cannot tell you how much we won that day, as I only remember the interviews with George and Talita in tears, as the frustrations of the previous 3 months all came out. A friend had a double with Colin Scott's horse in the previous race, 32000 to 200 and couldn't get paid out.

Played first jackpot ever at the Potgieterus tote, with the help of a knowledgeable friend, Kevin F. In the last leg he decided that we could go with a banker instead of including THE AXE with Striker up, which I had really liked and wanted to include. He insisted that The Axe could not win and that we would be able to take 2 jackpots with our stake (no fractional betting). Striker showed them the way home and as per my maths teacher at school, 2 times zero is zero, has always been zero and will always be zero.

I was backpacking around Australia and only had about $40 left. Saw a TAB and went in. Looked on the board and she said to me I must back a horse called Manor House cause she used to work there in North London. So I stuck 20 each way. The horse won at 33/1 and boy did that money come in handy. Dont know what would have happened if the horse lost..

if i can be so brass morri, coming from experiance,if you scaled down the amount off selections and maybe be more selective on the horses you are punting, this might serve you better ie quality, price etc,for example create a price you would like to bet your selection and if it is unatainable leave alone, value is the name of the game
