Have a kiddies Xmas party tomorrow morning to attend (luckily I'm not having to dress up as Father Xmas), so I'm posting some thoughts early (but not early enough - 40/1 Magical no more)
R1: Some very nice sorts here - Bearing Gifts supported on debut, Kentridge's form line very strong - the two Tiger's have some good form and Rebel Heart (Marcus rides) and Take Me On could be anything - I'm going a few swingers for interest with Bearing Gifts and Kentridge - should at least be a decnt dividend if they arrive
R2: Have to agree with Super Pursuit - I thought she got up to win last time, so she is virtually a winner already (and we know the form has been franked) - I think both Pavlova and Jet in the Sky may be better over further, while Golden Veil may be best over 1000 - so for a roughie I think Maggie Thatch could place back from a rest and on the turf.
R3: Europa Point the obvious one, but she is vulnerable imo - the last time she over this trip she was running of a 70 and could not win in a rather moderate field - now she is racing off an 86 and although she should be good enough to rate a PA banker, she represents no value at odds-on imo - Avenue of Gold really badly in at the weights, so an eachway bet on Turkish Delight could prove a wise move
R4: Here Link Man and Gibraltar Blue will be a popular P6 banker, but this is a handicap, so I think it may be an idea to try and beat them - Shea Shea can't be ignored and Snowdon and Polar Moon seems well in on handicap terms while roughies Arabian Mist and Mile's Choice could also upset imo
R5: Felix the Cat should enjoy the cut in the ground and holds both Uptothemoon and Extra Zero on the Golden Slipper run; main danger should be Amur Affair who ran a great race last time from the widest draw - Katy's Lane to fight out 3rd with Magic Smoke who should do better over this trip
R6: Lots written about this year's Dingaans - everyone and his dog have their opinions and only the race will show who were right - imo Straw Market 'ticks all the right boxes' - Merhee is not certain to stay the trip, but no reason why he won't and rates a big danger - I think Potala Palace will need to pull out all the stops to even finish 3rd here - preparing the face for the egg to follow
R7: Open looking handicap - Mahogany gets Marcus while Marwing gets on Tender Twilight - both have chances imo and Mahogany seems reasonable value at 8/1 with Pleasant Valley who is consistent and often runs well after a rest - The White Horse should hold Tender Twilight on their last run and Selborne Supremacy probably deserves another chance - and watch out for Sidera, who is dropping in the ratings and has Delpech riding - put as many as the budget allows
R8: The 'big' one - again lots have been written - PJ has not stopped drifting, but must surely be on anyone's shortlist with The Apache and Ilsanpietro (money for both stable mates Flirtation and Perana) and if you're looking for some nice place bets, I think Magical (R3.30 on the tote as I write), Bulsara (R3.70) and Black Wing (who holds The Apache on the Daily News run - currently paying R3.00) - not bad for the first 6 - much better than Jet Jamboree who is showing a ridiculous R2.60 a win and R1.10 a place :S
R9: 'Only' 3 numbers needed to close the P6 imo - Mirage Drive and the de Kock and Tarry couplings
Races 10 to 12 rather a let down imo - two maiden plates to finish - and even if I'm in front by then I think I would call it a day
Enjoy (

Race 1: Rebel Heart is a full brother to my filly Romantic Moon. Marcus up, interesting to see how he goes.

Doing Well Hibs. Gave her a well deserved rest on the farm after a tough season. Back in work now, looking forward to the new season with her.

Lovely preview Frodo, agree with you on most races, especially the last 3, don't know what is wrong with having 9 race. Felix The Cat is my pick as well. (tu)
