Well if you 're used to see 50 people on course, then 500 would be a 'far larger turnout' B)-

I realize that FH, using some 'poetic license' - imo all these gimmicks (have to admit that the international jockeys concept is more than a gimmick) do nothing to attract people to the sport of horse racing - go and read Mr Goosen's article on Freeracer - what we need are more 'good' horses (Pierre Jourdan, etc) competing against each other to cultivate a horse racing population - yes, getting to see the latest Idol is OK, but it does not bring the people next week :S

Surely closing down racecourses has not helped, now we see more bad horses (with respect to owners) racing every week in Gauteng...

On top of that who really wants to drive 70km to the Vaal to watch racing, i could never understand why the vaal was given preference over Gosforth Park and Newmarket for closure??...
