sat and watched the rememberance service on Saturday night on the bbc not ashamed to say was in tears at the old guy singing a song he wrote about Normandy the charity song this year is no mans land also known as willie McBride or the green fields of france

I'm grateful I was not born into a world run by the Nazis. Thank you Britain for standing your ground until the Americans could get their finger out.

I suppose I will always be an Anglophile, silly ol' sentimental me.

Love the (especially the) half-forgotten, old-fashioned bits of Britain, that are rapidly vanishing not museums and monuments - the bits like this -
