Titch, like you, when I read the NHA report ,my reaction was ,albeit from memory, that the horse had been handicapped, and carried the correct weight,as a 1 time winner!
If that is true ,then even the objection would be incorrect!

Rob i think the connections of the other runners had the right to object .They could object as there is some rule which states something to the effect that the connections are obligated to update the authorities on all past performances of an unknown runner as in this case . i read this on saftote a day or two after the incident .
I'm almost certain the horse carried the correct weight in that race , this is puzzling indeed . The objection should be against withholding the horses career record from the punting public.

Solo, you are absolutely right ,but if the offence was non-disclosure by the stable, that would surely be a fine for the trainer and not a disqualification, which affects the owners?

Rob i think the article stated that the connections of the runners (those that finished behind Sheer courage) had every right within a certain period to object under the said rule .
Therefore i assume disqualification and stakes redistribution would be forthcoming .
Pity i can't find that article ! It was in the citizens racing express .

My understanding is that this horse has in fact been disqualified for carrying the incorrect weight.I'm not sure exactly what he was supposed to carry, but this graduation was one of the new types where there are allowances given to the runners based on their recent form.if you look at formgrids you can confirm this.
How does it help those of us who backed Baron Of breedon @ 50-1 and got beaten a sh!

Solotrama, I know for a fact there were at least 2 punters on this forum that were on the 2nd placed horse.... (See the racing forum for that day)...

GB in all fairness even if those who backed the 2nd horse were aware that Sheer Courage was a 1 time winner they would have still in all probability taken their chances the real losers here have to be the owners and to add to their woes the horse will now be considered a 2 time winner and have a MR in the mid 80's and at this stage has not earned anything for them, I still cant get my head around how an "unraced" horse was allocated 55 kg's in a graduation.....

It was a plated race. The horse had a rating in the nineties (it was once over 100 in UK). It would have been the best weighted horse in the race by a street. If it was public knowledge the horse would have been close to favourite, even coming off a rest.
So the connections got 14-1 instead of 2/1.

That's a good point that RUFFIAN bring up. No need to feel sorry for them. They made plenty.
They are probably reading all these posts and having a good laugh at our expense.
They backed it all right.

If they ever rated him over 100 after a maiden win at Leicester I would be surprised and even as a 2 time winner he is now a 88...also Colin Bird has never had a bet in his life and certainly doesnt need to try pull off some sort of scam to get a better price believe me the man is worth telephone numbers...
