Hotline I hear that neither you nor Sheikh Hassan want Felix on your horses at the Snaith yard. Any truth in the rumor ? Felix still a legend IMO.

The Western Cape were initially scheduled to stage 86 race meetings in 2011 with 43 of these scheduled for Wednesday afternoons, 35 on Saturday afternoons, 6 on Sunday afternoons and the remaining two race meetings on other days.
However, given the vast number of newly turned three-year-olds in training in the Western Cape, Gold Circle has agreed to stage an extra all maiden-day at Kenilworth this Saturday, 10 September, and the response from trainers has been fantastic.
“Western Cape trainers have an abundance of young horses in training and we have recognized their need for us to stage additional opportunities for these horses to get to the race track,” said Gold Circle’s Racing Director Graeme Hawkins.
“Saturday, 10 September, was initially a blank day for the Western Cape and, such has been the response, that we are looking at the possibility of adding another all-maiden day on 22 October,” added Hawkins.

Any idea why weekend was chosen to implement "maiden card"?
which will be the 'feature race'?

Just incase u didnt see the post above.....the "feature" race is CAPE racing.....

let me say i applaud the extra meeting idea of Gold Circle now that i under stand why it was scheduled and the benefit to all concerned.
However
Is 86 meeting enough per year in Western cape seeing the number of horses in training. that is 43 weeks of racing per year. 9 or 18 extra meetings could easily be planned even if they are shuffles around for rainy season in Cape.
Or option 2 have more 10-11 race programs so that they dont have stand alone maiden plate meetings.
Just a thought

Its so much more technical than meets the eye......we would all love to have 2 meetings every week with a 10 race card on the day but it just simply cant work that way....

I WOULD HAVE absolutely LOVED it since Plate races whether they are Mdn, Nov, Gdn, etc makes
no difference is more predictable in PLACE betting than Hcp races, especially low Hcp races.
Additionally there is obviously a demand for MDN's in the WC so a WIN WIN for Owners & Punters alike.
BUT after seeing the card and so many 1st timers therefore too many variables will have very little part of it...apart from watching a few Snaith runners.
