Jockeys back in SA

Does anyone know whether Cormack is back for good or just on Holiday.

I see Brandon is back as well. I don't think the Mauritius season is in a recess.

Nice to see Sean Veale back in the irons.

If I'm not mistaken all the South African jocks that were riding in Mauritius were suspended for various riding offences during this season. The jocks that are back in SA were told to leave imo. In Mauritius, the jocks either perform or they must leave. The stipes are very stringent w.r.t. suspicious riding by jocks.

Richard Fourie left without transgressing any rules,Im not sure if Brandon was suspended either he is riding here and would not be allowed to if he had been suspended on the island

Fourie wasn't happy with racing once a week and not getting great rides.... I see his point, it' a lekker place to live but money talks I guess.........As for B Lerena he was probably himself, not workriding, being stood down because he ill etc same as he does here in SA, that's maybe why he moved through so many stables. BUT that IS my OWN opinion

Well, I'm from Mauritius albeit living in the UK atm. Fourie's departure was after a mutual agreement with his stable, as results were not quite as good as originally expected. Nothing to do with a suspension. Odendaal who came to replace Fourie was sacked very soon after. As for Lerena, it has nothing to do with what you said Wagga. He started the season with a bang but kinda lost his confidence later on, taking some wrong decisions here and there, which are pretty much always costly here given the very short final straight. Personally, overall, I think he did very well, but he has been unlucky to be constantly compared to his predecessor at this stable, in Glen Hatt, who is the most successful jockey to have ridden in Mauritius.

Herholdt's situation is not looking very good either having just been suspended for four meetings. On the other hand, Geroudis has been kicking asses, and is a dead cert for champion jockey. Our good old Mark Neisius has also been finding some form of late despite riding for a small stable. There's also some talk of Fayd'herbe coming over.

Very hard to expect to win a title up against riders like Anton, Anthony, Felix et al all of whom have strong base stables, but I have no doubt that he will win a Title one day, having said that his 3rd place last season with only Anton and Anthony riding more winners than him was a massive achievement in only his 4th year out of the academy and is testament to his ability.
