Uncle Mo was super impressive but there is still a niggle in the back of my mind of him staying the 1 1/4 miles of the Derby. If he does.....no race.

Pluck I thought ran a reasonable race. The pace was farcically slow. A $90 a place horse held on for 2nd who was on the speed all the way around. The eventual winner sat just off the pace and sprinted clear at the top of the short straight. Pluck was gaining rapidly at the business end but he was left with too much to do. Imo I thought he ran as well as he could from where he was.
He will be back as long as he pulled up sound!

There were surprises abound yesterday at Tampa Bay Downs. The other 3 year old feature of the day was won by an $89 shot......Super Saver's (last years Derby winner) half brother could only manage 3rd!

Santa Anita have changed back from Synthetic to dirt. All races run there is now on dirt once again. (on the main track) The race made history in that it was for the first time in its history won by a female jockey. For you guys who watched the series "jockeys" it was Chantele Sutherland. She is better known for being Mike Smith's main squeeze but I feel she is a very decent jock in her won right. She is Canadian and only recently relocated again to Santa Anita for their Spring meet!

The field for the Dubai World Cup on March 26 is taking clearer shape, with controversial Santa Anita Handicap winner Game On Dude confirmed an intended runner with Canadian star Chantal Sutherland on board.

The four-year-old's conenctions have accepted an invitation to the world's richest race after his surprise victory in last weekend's $750,000 highlight in California.

Game On Dude, who had to survive a stewards' inquiry after touching off Setsuko at Santa Anita, will represent trainer Bob Baffert at Meydan. Baffert won the World Cup twice at Nad Al Sheba with Silver Charm (1998) and Captain Steve (2001).

Godolphin's Mendip may well be switched to the Dubai Duty Free on turf, while stablemate Poet's Voice could contest the World Cup.

Speaking at Meydan on Thursday evening, Godolphin racing manager said: "Poet's Voice has long been the apple of our eye at Godolphin and a horse we have always held in the highest esteem. He was a Group 2-winning juvenile, a Group 1 winner last year and he ran a great race last week.

"That was the prep race for the Dubai Duty Free but we do have the option of the World Cup itself. He works well on Tapeta and it is definitely an option. Sheikh Mohammed will decide."
Mendip is twice a Group 3 winner already at this year's Dubai Carnival, having narrowly got home in the Burj Nahaar on his most recent outing.

"On last week's evidence the mile is probably not a sufficient stamina test and the World Cup may just be a bit too tough for him at this stage of his career," added Crisford.

"Therefore we will seriously think about the Dubai DutyFree on the turf. He has only had six starts and his one defeat was in the UAE Derby last year. The Duty Free trip looks ideal for him on what would be his turf debut. Again, no decision has been made."

thanks Tommy .
I woulda bet my shirt it was on synthetic as i remember in the previous breeders cup they raced on synthetic.

Do you think game on dude will be competitive on the tapetta in dubai .The time figure of that santa anita race was very good !

Ant, I must be honest I don't know how good the form of that particular race is and for me dirt horses don't always translate to the tapeta. I would be pretty weary of him, even though he may be very classy.

For me I believe if the race was still run on dirt at the old Nad Al Sheba that the Americans could be competitive......now, not quite as much unless they bring their turf superstars, then they may have a chance.

The only one I like from the US is Paddy o' Prado, and that's if he even makes the trip.

Ant,

Game on Dude will not be coming to the Dubai WC due to an injury.

As soon as the fields are finalized I'll give you my opinions about the US runners!
