Gypsy's Warning comes deal as Duty flops

DUAL Guineas winner Special Duty (Criquette Head-Maarek/Rafael Bejarano), sent off the 11-10 favourite, was never in the running after breaking slowly and pulling early, and she finished last of seven as 39-10 third choice Gypsy’s Warning (Graham Motion/Joel Rosario) raced past second favourite Wasted Tears inside the final furlong to win by more than a length.

“I didn’t really take her back,” jockey Joel Rosario said of the winner. “I just let her relax and get comfortable.

"She seemed like she was going to be a little rank, but she settled herself down. When I asked her to go, she really kicked.”

Gyspy’s Warning had registered her biggest previous victory in theSouth African Fillies' Classic last season. She won the Grade 3 Eatontown Handicap at Monmouth Park on May 31 on was her US debut and most recently was third in the Grade 1 Yellow Ribbon Stakes at Santa Anita after leading into the straight.
