Imagine when its a jackpot race where 2 Miller runners reverse by over 30 lengths(4th today).
This is obviously what Garner(he with smug expression) meant by the Jackpot becoming stale.He wants to turn it into an exciting mystery.

Doesn't all this in-and-out running bring 'racing into disrepute'?

I know that if I were charged(I don't know why I wasn't) with that,my defence would be that only something reputable can be brought into disrepute!,and anything not regulated can hardly be regarded as reputable.

Darnit!!
I haven't taken a tote bet, aside from exotics, for quite some time.
In race 6, I decided to put some places on Springbok Summer. Interbet was showing 1.65 less their deductions, while the tote was showing 2.00.
I took the bet as they jumped, any later and it wouldn't have got on.
Return? 1.40!!!
My bet was only R20, so no big deal, but...

i remember as a kid in port elizabeth, every time a horse won at long odds or at great reversal of form (meaning inconsistent form) there would be an inquiry and the trainer would have to submit a report to the stipes. Stipes then filed an official report.
That is now unheard of

Haupie,that is my point exactly.Maybe we have to have raced in those times to appreciate how much,that sort of control and regulation,has disappeared.

@rob faux:
Racing has turned into a game of appeasement now ....... so seems!
In preparation for a clean sweep in due course?
That probably explains why the JP couplings have been changed .... not because of squealing, disgruntled punters or falling pools!
